long, long, overdue...

As you can see it has been quite awhile since we have updated this, so we thought it about time to fill everyone in on what we have been up to, we have been laying very dormant recently not really doing to much other than growing as individuals discussing ideas and future plans as well as writing. We are still alive, active, things are just moving very slowly at the moment, and we are kinda liking that... there will be new material, recordings, unlike anything we have ever done before..literally. We all appreciate all of your support and kinds words and appreciate all of your patience. and please know it will be worth the wait.

In addition to our most recent hibernation, there are some other things to discuss, a few of the members of HM have ventured off into another "new" project of sorts called "RITUALS" who have also just announced they're first live performance please check them out and support them and get ready, you can find out more about "RITUALS" at www.ritualsmusic.blogspot.com We are very excited for this new venture and hope all of you will be as well.

Getting back to more HM news we are happy to announce that we have been featured in the December 2010 issue of Decibel Magazine. Saw Her Ghost Records was featured, and we were one of the picks in addition to our label mates and friends, Beast in the Field, and Supercontinent, although this was a small mention we are very stoked that we were lucky enough to be mentioned..

Last but not least we have been getting questions on where to find merch and music online, the best place to visit would be www.sawherghost.net there you can find both records available for mailorder, you can also find our "demo sessions re-release" released on 1912 records, on itunes and various other sites. We are making our last preperations for our show in LOS ANGELES w/ Rosetta, City of Ships and more.. we are looking forward to getting out on the road, even if it is just to see friends in L.A. we will have new t-shirts and plenty of NEW HEAVEN/NEW EARTH and EMPIRES splits with us as well...for those of you who have been asking! IT'S BEEN AWHILE...

It's been awhile since our last post...
We have been very busy this year, 2 tours, SXSW, and lots of other shows...so here is some updates thus far from where we left of last in March....with SXSW. Our trip was alot of fun.. we hit the road with our friends in Nanda Devi, Toad, and Ryan from Earsplitters, some of the Earsplitters staff had already flown out to Texas and were awaiting our arrivals. When we got to Austin we were given a very warm welcome and spent some time with our buddies in Empires, Beast In the Field, and Lost Coves as well as Mark from SAW HER GHOST, it was great finanlly meeting him and the rest of the SHG crew. cause they have been friends of ours for so long now.. it almost felt like we had already been close for years now, cause we have all know each other for so long, and have been working together.. just never met face to face. We also had the privilege of seeing the dudes from Battlefields, and ADAI. while hanging out with them at their show at Plush in downtown Austin, We ended the evening seeing Torche play at Beerland while some of us went over to see Rocky Erikson play, all in all it was a very crazy, but totally enjoyable trip and Austin was very good to us... special thanks goes out to Brian for keeping us all well inebriated and putting all of us up with a place to rest our heads all weekend, not that there was much sleep going on.

So, now back in Az, we have done a few local shows with some great bands/friends KERRETA, RED SPAROWES, CASPIAN, and we have a few more dates to add to the list before summer's end. so here is the low down...

First things first, we will be playing a few select dates this summer locally in Arizona, and a few in Ca, two of these dates will be with ROSETTA and CITY OF SHIPS as they make way out to the west coast. The dates w/ ROSETTA and a few others have been posted on our myspace, so go check them out and we hope to see you there! The plan after these few dates this summer will be to come back and start writing our next release.. I say "plan" because we have been planning on do it for a couple of months now but with all the shows and touring we haven't had any time to focus on new material, we have some songs in the works, but we would like to be able to focus more on them, and that is the plan for the end of summer and beginning of fall. We have already started the process of moving into a house in Phoenix w/ our friends in BODIES (emma's side project) where we will write and start to lay down some rough demos of the new material.

Another exciting bit of news is that we would like to welcome back guitarist Josh Griffith, to the family..(josh played on all of the tracks on NEW HEAVEN/NEW EARTH and had a big hand in writing them.) He has returned from his brief absence and we are excited to have him back. We would also like to take this moment thank our friend Joe Boning from Tintype for filling in for the last couple of months.

There is a lot more to talk about but, a lot of things are still being ironed-out all we can say now is there should be another release from us before end of the year and maybe even more.. we should have the details real soon, We know all of you have been asking... so please be patient with us, and as always thank you for all of your love and support.

So, it has been a busy year so far, in January we had an amazing tour w/ The Coma Recovery, and March is going to be one of our most crazy months yet...and it is now here. As you know our new record is out and we are about to invade the southwest yet again with friends Nanda Devi, and TOAD as well as The Easplitters Crew. With everything finishing out in Austin, Tx. with 2 showcases at SXSW! The first is one is at the metropolis apts with a huge lineup of great bands w/ everyone from BATTLEFIELDS, JUNIUS and CITY OF SHIPS, to EAST OF THE WALL, and ADAI, the 2nd is for SAW HER GHOST RECORDS at a record store called trailer space located right off from downtown Austin w/ labelmates BEAST IN THE FIELD, and EMPIRES.

We will be on the road playing a few show on the way there so be sure to check out the dates that have been posted which can be found on our MYPSPACE and try to make it out.

so after phoenix we headed to tucson, az for a great show with good friends Long Live the Smoking Gun. It was a great show and we had alot of fun other than the fact that we were running super late on our way there and at the end of the night our locks broke on our vehicle. After a call to AAA and a few hot drinks later we were back on the road on our way to new mexico. We drove all night and arrived there about 10am in the morning... and basically froze our asses off all day when we pulled into town greg was even wearing sandals.. we were not expecting this kind of cold, but I guess that is what we get for being from Az. Later on we met up with Coma for Dinner before our show at the launchpad. it was a great show and we made a lot of new friends including the good peeps from Distances... after that show we went out to Dustin from Comas house and drank, hung out and passed out...
crawling out of our sleeping bags the next morning to a banjo jam session in the living room of Dustin's house. After some more beer and food we were off to our last show of the tour in Santa Fe at the Santa Fe brewing Co. As we rolled up to the venue we were a little worried due to the fact that there were infants and children running around and well it looked more of like a family restaurant rather than a place to have a show..the promoter insured us we had nothing to worry about and feed us full of good pizza, and tons of beer to calm our nerves, and later on the crowd did become more of a "show-going crowd"and the show actually went amazing watching The Coma Recovery every night was mos def a plus as well. after the show the weather conditions were too ruff to drive home with a trailer so the people at the brewery gave us a full on tour and even more beer to take with us... once again this turned out to be an amazing night... we all said our goodbyes and posed for one more photo..then it was back it was back to burque to get some sleep and head out for home early next morning..

Vacation Vinyl was amazing, I think we may have cleaned out their stock of Colt45, between all of us, I think we pretty much drank our weight in beer. after the show we spent an hour packing out our trailer.......and then drove out to see Openhand play at Spaceland in Silverlake, Ca and we hung out even more with the Earsplitters crew and became sadder that we had to leave them. We drove all night.. well Joe did most of us slept. and we got back into our home Phoenix at about 6am in the morning with just about enough time to crawl into our beds and sleep before our show tonight at Revolver records in Downtown Phoenix. everyone was great at the show in phoenix tonight. Tonight was also the first night that we meet up with My Dads (from Portland) and we will be with them and Coma, for the rest of the tour tomorrow is Tucson see you there!

Waking up a little hungover we all headed out to L.A. again for our free instore at Vacation Vinyl. Seriously if you had seen this place you would understand a bit more how amazing it is.. every single good record you can think of is here and some ones that you may not have even know that existed, everyone is super nice and we can't be thankful enough to all the new friends we have made hanging out and drinking pretty much the entire stores supply of COLT 45 and hanging out with pete, from Vacation and the rest of the EARSPLITTERS crew was a great time. if you have the means to come down here and support what they are doing at VACATION you most certainly should. Being from Arizona and being able to visit places like this make us appreciate everything that everyone out here is doing even more. It seems like everytime we are out here we get an even deeper appeciation for this music and independent D.I.Y. culture, as well as everytime we are out here, people bend over backwards to treat us with the upmost kindeness.

last night was great in Pomona, thank you to everyone who came out and had kind words to say. today we are pulling into L.A. and are stoked to hang with old and new friends tonight will be our show at the Labcabin so be sure to make it out. Most defiantly colder than expected out here in cali.. On the stranger side of thing all of the hellas mounds and coma recovery camp visted a Scientology Museum down the street from Amoeba Records.. it was pretty creepy, infact a couple of us ducked out a bit early. other than that we are in good spirits and having a great time see you tonight!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!, hope the holidays found you and yours well we have been super busy even through the holidays we have been non-stop. As you may already know we have an upcoming EP due out early 2010 called "NEW HEAVEN/NEW EARTH" we also set off today for about a week or so long tour with our buddies THE COMA RECOVERY, we are stoked to see friendly and new faces on the road and cannot wait to see you all We have new songs, and merch to share. and we are excited to play some new music for all of you too. We will be updateing this blog alot on tour and posting updates and what not on twitter and facebook as well so be sure to keep checking back... other than that see you all soon!

as promised we have locked ourselves away over the past couple of weeks to finish writing, and recording our next release. all of these songs were recorded in the house we have spent writing them in for the past couple of months, in a sun drenched room while all of us were full of way too much wine and beer... we sat down, and put the past few months efforts down onto recordings..we are really excited for everyone to hear them, and can't wait to get them out and to your ears...

NEW HEAVEN/NEW EARTH will continue on with our concept that we have been building on for the past few years now, and is due out on SAW HER GHOST RECORDS. The track listing, artwork , conceptual story line, and more info will be posted on our myspace soon so be sure to keep an eye out. As well as a new record, we also have some other amazing news instore and some more tour dates to be posted soon for winter and spring......

We have a show on spetember 26th w/ our friends the coma recovery and at the end of underground cities, @ the red owl in tempe. And the day before on the 25th we will being playing with the coma recovery in flagstaff at the cottage house go to our myspace for more info, or any questions you have have on either of these two shows....also.......
We have been so busy playing shows, writing, and getting new material ready for recording and lots of other things... we also have been getting lots of awsome feedback and several nice comments from all of you and we would first like to take a brief moment and thank all of you for all of your support, we would not be where we are without all of you. second, along with all of the kind words, we have also been getting quite a few questions so we thought it would be easy to sum them up as follows...There is so much to talk about so let's start with the first.

(shows) - we have some shows booked right now
(as prev. mentioned) and these may be the last of the rest of the year but we would never tie ourselves down and say this is "it" for the year but we will be taking quite a bit of time off for rest of 2009 to record...but we are planning some early tour dates in 2010, hopefully in january with some good friends of ours but more on that soon.

(recording) - we will be setting aside the remainder of the year starting in oct. to finishing writing and to record our next upcoming "full length" release, we will have an official announcement soon of the name, the label(s) working with us on it, and the format, artwork etc, etc. so stay tuned!

(touring) - working on lotsa stuff for 2010 but...if your out of arizona you will prbobly not see us till 2010 due to recording and writing.

As summer winds down we are finding ourselves continuing to write and get material ready for our next release. we should be going into the studio mid- to end of september. All of the mixing and mastering for the LAST FERRY re-issue is pretty much done and we should see more info on that soon. "THE LAST FERRY TO CYDONIA" re-issue (UPDATE)

All of the mixing is finally done and it is now in the process of being sent to mastering.... We are excited to get this out and to everyone's ears as soon as possible. 1912 records should be posting a new track off of it soon.we will keep everyone up to date on the progress of the release and we should be seeing a hopeful release before october. thanks to all who have been kind enough send us kind thoughtswe do appreciate all of your kind words.

WHAT WE ARE UP TO AS OF 4/25/2009....

lately we have been working on the "LAST FERRY" re-release. mixing the tracks, recording some new ones and getting it all ready for all of you, that is pretty much winding down at this point, with only 2 songs left to mix it will then be sent off to be mastered and then pressed. we are stoked for the outcome. we expect to have the last two tracks mixed and then everything sent off to mastering by mid-may, But another exciting announcement is that also early this summer we will begin recording our next record.. we already have some material down and are working on more as we speak. release details are not too developed yet but will come soon....
also as previously mentioned we will hopefully be documenting this recording process as it evolves, and we should have some new stuff up/or some videos of the new stuff up soon for everyone to check out.

THE END OF AN ERA...

this saturday marks the end of an era for alot of us in arizona, our beloved venue, the space will close its doors as of 8/30. "the space" was alot of different things to alot of people. to us it was a venue, a practice space, and recording studio,

but to others it was simply a place to go drink a couple of beers, and watch some great music...we have met alot of great people there that we belive will develop into some long lasting friendships, in addition to meeting some amazing people a long list of great bands have graced the space's stage including...kayo dot, battlefields, junius, constants, caspian, beware of safety, giant, rosetta, gifts from enola, giants, as well as many others,,, and though we are sad to see it go the space will be throwing one hell of a farwell show to hammer the last nail in the coffin. with some of our friends playing such as VIA VENGEANCE, LONG LIVE THE SMOKING GUN, AND ARC OF THE AURORA as well as many others this should be one event not to miss....not to mention that it is free...so make sure to come out have a beer, and say goodbye..

NEW SPLIT W/ EMPIRES OUT NOW!

The day has fianally come.... after a year or so of planning, recording, mixing, remixing, and mixing again, we are fiannally excited to say that the EMPIRES/HELLAS MOUNDS SPLIT is now out and available to the public.. anyone who had pre-ordered the record should be getting it this week in the mail... and for all of our international friends complete distrobution will be coming soon...so you can get your hands on this as well... it has been one hell of a summer and more changes are on the way soon. we would like to thank once again the doodz at SAW HER GHOST RECORDS for all of their hardwork on the release as well as our brothers EMPIRES and special thanx to margaret lane for her contribution as well. we are all really happy with the outcome of the release.
